Монрепо – поместье, которым он владеет и в котором живет, совсем близко от ворот города; это, возможно, самое милое местечко, которое можно найти на севере. Кажется, что природа создала его для пребывания фей, а с некоторого времени – при теперешнем владельце и благодаря украшениям всяческого рода – этот уголок много выиграл.

      Landscape and  plant system , geographical and ecological factors always balance in order to find  the proper synergy of nature and art. If you want to see the landscape as visual and tangible space you should step aside of  formal historical dependence and turn the park into a theatrical performance with historical allusions and  visitors as spectators.

  • Olga Volkova, state museum Peterhoff: Complex restoration of Marlie in the  Peterhoff park

Marlie is a barocco style zone, one of the biggest and latest park developments, that was created   according to personal directions of Peter the Great. The central part of the zone is a Marlie Palace with three surrounding parks,  that are now the core points of restoration works.

Kello-park is located in Leningrad oblast, on the place where archeologists found Neolithic villages and investigated the inhabited territories dated to 1st century. Kello park and mansion is wonderfully located and has a system of ponds and alleys, that currently are partly out of order and in need of complex restoration.

 Potamic Russia is a live museum on the outskirts of the historical village Dedinovo on Oka river, specializing on  presenting different tourist products for wide target groups with the aim to introduce the habits and living conditions of Russian villages. It is in close proximity of touristic cities Kolomna and  Riazan.

     

  • Andrey Ukhnalev, state Russian museum:  Problems of fencing restoration of the Summer garden, St.Petersburg

Quality evaluation of the project idea and its further  implementation, challenges of two concepts, that are used  in the project idea, as well as some theoretical questions on using authentic materials and technologies and finding reasonable proportion  of restoration works are challenging the restoration process of the Summer garden fence.

Staraya Russa is a historical town, closely connected to life of the famous Russian author Fedor Dostoevsky. Currently , among the number of museums of Staraya Russa, the mostly famous  are  the museum of local history, Cathedral of transformation, dated to 1198, museum of Fedor Dostoevsky.

The main aim of the museum is cooperation of museum and educational institutions. A lot of programmes, interactive excursions, quests and other related to local history and  literature  events have been developed for different groups of visitors.

 

  • Zhanna Solomina, St.Petersburg State University: Historical and modern landscapes of the Monrepos-park 

As a museum institution the Monrepos-park was founded in 1988 on the former territory of the mansion of baron Nickolay family.   Geographically, the whole territory belongs to Vyborg landscape, the southern part   of Baltic crystal shield.    One of the natural factors of landscape changing is the uprising of the Baltic shield (2-2,5 mm/year). So, the territorial enlarging since  XIII c. till now is estimated to be ab. 12%. Main function of the territory at that time was defense and agriculture. Later the railroad connecting St.Petersburg and Helsinki was erected.

Nowadays, 43% is covered by forestry. The base for landscape is formed by  granite hills and sand flatlands.

 Parks named Monrepos-park were created in the second half of ХVIII–ХIХ cc. mainly in Western Europe. Three of them are connected with the name of the Wurtenberg family and are located in Russia (Vyborg), Germany, Switzerland (Lozano and Geneva).

 

  • Elena Shtiglitz, OOO Architectural buro “Litejnaya chast-91”: Prefeasibility study on restoration of the Monrepos-park

 The Monrepos-park is a state historical and cultural heritage asset of  the end of XVIII – middle of  XIX cc., and covers  the territory of 181 hectares . The museum complex comprises of the mansion, landscape park, forest and a part of Zaschitnaya bay and some inshore islands. The project “Restoration of architectural and horticultural park “The Monrepos manor” was selected among other applications and an agreement on the project implementation was signed by the Ministry of finance and the Leningrad oblast authorities. Prefeasibility study is the first step of the project implementation and  covers  35 hectares including the historical core of the park.

 The whole works consist of two parts: architectural and landscape. From  2012 the following research works have been conducted in the fields of: archeology, fitosanitary, geobotanica,  plants’  mapping, hydrogeology, hydrology,  ornithology, ichthyology,  climate, ecology, fotomapping .

 Restoration and revival of space park composition, planning and drainage system, reconstruction of hydro technical facilities , methods of conservation of elderly trees are key points of the concept which was presented  on the base  of the prefeasibility study.

History of the Monrepos-park:

 XVI c – Vyborg Castle , swedish agricultural and husbandry  yard

1759 – Petr  Stupishin,  started the development of the territory and named it Charlottentahl

 1784 – 1787  prince Wurtenberg , gave  the name of Monrepos to the park

1788 – 1940/1944 -  baron Nickolay family continued the development of the Monrepos park and mansion.

The first archeological survey  was conducted  in  1981–1983 and then continued only in 2012.
